Formula SAE (FSAE) is a collegiate engineering competition where shcools compete against each other by designing their own Formula Style vehicle. I am a member of Rensselaer Motorsports, RPI's FSAE team.

Rensselaer Motorsport & FSAE

Rensselaer Motorsports (RM) is RPI's Motorsports Team / Club on campus. We compete in Formula SAE Michigan every year, which is the largest collegiate design competition in the world. Over 100 teams from around the world attend each competition, and in recent years, RM has been one of the teams producing the highest caliber of Formula-style race cars, finishing in the top 25* at competition (*2018).

Concurrently with my classes, I spend about 30-40 hours a week working on RM related projects - business projects, engineering design projects, manufacturing, etc. I've been a member of the team since my third semester at RPI, the fall of 2021. This page is just a taste of what I've done on the team.

2021-2022 Season

Social Media & PR Lead, Sponsor Relations Lead

For the 21'-22 season, I was the Social Media & PR Lead as well as the Sponsor Relations Lead of Rensselaer Motorsport.

I managed the team's Instagram page (@rensselaer_motorsport), and helped lead the team to creating a 225% increase in likes on our posts, increasing our average like count from ~75 to ~250 per post. Generating greater engagement in each post and looking at our KPI's of like counts and follower increase rate were two of my targets in helping grow the team's social media pages. I'm also the photographer for most of the team's content productions.

In my time as Sponsor Relations Lead, I've been reaching out organizations to request sponsorship like Fibreglast, Red Bull, and Recovery Sports Grill, as well as strengthening and keeping the connections and partnerships we already have alive with our brands like PVA, Axcel Sports, and Boeing.

Furthermore, I also singlehandedly created all the team's merchandise; i.e. all of our jackets, polos, hoodies, tee shirts, and hats. I've also been in charge of creating the livery design for the 2021-22 season, and will be revealed at our Rollout event on April 18, 2022. Furthermore, most of our promotional graphics & material have been created by me.

Just as I am the Lead of Social Media & PR, as well as Sponsor Relations, I'm also still a member of the team. Some of the projects I've been a part of are showcased below:

Firewall & Floor Composite Layups

For this project, we were creating the floor & firewall of RM25. We began by creating templates in CAD & out of cardboard of their sizing to manufacture both out of G10 flame resistant material as well as carbon fiber composite material, respectively. The intent is to create a flat surface to allow for the protection of our driver from the elements, as well as from the heat produced by the engine's headers (at their peak, 900 C), respectively. Both of these projects fall under the ergonomics subsystem of the car, in ensuring driver safety and the ease of their experience in the car.

Moving forward, we intend to do thorough testing on the G10 material that we selected to determine its effectiveness in reducing the heat transferred from the headers to the inside of the cockpit.
